7 WAYS TO PREVENT YOUR CAR INTERIOR FROM DEVELOPING MOLD DURING THE COVID-19 LOCKDOWN

Inhaling mold is bad for your health, in addition to looking and feeling generally unpleasant. It is full of germs and unseen dangerous organisms.

Mold has been repeatedly shown to cause and aggravate breathing problems and allergies.

You do not want to have mold in your vehicle, especially in this period that cleanliness is a necessity for survival.

Fortunately, these 7 things will discourage mold from growing on the interior of your vehicle.

1. Clean and Disinfect Your Car

Really, don’t use your vehicle as a mobile trash can.  Take out garbage, especially food.

Disinfect surfaces after cleaning. You can use products like Lysol, Clorox or Zetorance if you are in Nigeria.

By keeping your car clean, you limit its desirability for mold.

2. Limit Moisture

Sometimes it can be hard to keep the humidity down in your car.  The good news is that you can still make things inhospitable for mold.  Use bags of rice to absorb the humidity and keep things dryer in the car. Maybe your car could be a temporary store for that this season.

You can also store it in a garage or keep it covered with a waterproof car cover whenever possible. Mold is caused primarily by moisture, so you want to keep the inside of your car as dry as possible.

3. Keep Your Windows Closed

Roll up your windows and tightly close your doors when you are not operating the vehicle. This will keep moisture and debris from getting into your vehicle and help prevent mold growth from forming.

4. Do Not Eat In Your Car

Avoid eating or drinking in your vehicle. Spilled food and drinks are common causes of mold, so avoiding having them in your car will help prevent your car from getting moldy.

5. Clean Car Interior

Protect your car’s interior. Spray down the interior of your vehicle with a cleaning product and disinfect to remove all germs. These products are designed to kill mold growth as well as prevent new mold from growing. Also, put protective seat covers over your seats and waterproof floor mats on your floorboards to keep moisture from absorbing into your car’s interior if it happens to get wet.

6. Maintain Your Car Heating And Cooling System.

Maintain your heating and cooling system. Mold can grow in your vehicle’s heating and cooling system due to condensation and air flow issues. Regularly check your air filters, clean and disinfect them properly.

7. Use Vinegar Against Stink

This harsh but clean-smelling liquid is ideal against overpowering smells. You can leave it in a small cup or bowl inside your car overnight. The evaporation process will greatly limit even the strongest of odors. You can also try spraying and rubbing a stinky area with a mix of vinegar and water and a wet cloth. Just be sure to never pour pure vinegar anywhere in your car, because it’s strong enough to damage materials such as carpet or leather.

To step up your car’s sanitary game, you can order your 250ml bottle(s) of Zetorance Disinfectant Spray here
